                                                                                              7 MAN (cont'd)

This Generation (cont'd)

Therefore also said the wisdom of God, I will send unto them prophets and apostles; and some
of them they shall kill and persecute; that the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation; from the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zachariah, who perished between the altar and the sanctuary: yea, I say unto you, it shall be required of this generation.                                                                                                       l1149-51/m2334-6

Why doth this generation seek a sign? verily I say unto you, There shall no sign be given unto this generation.                 k0812/m1604

O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you, and bear with you?                                             l0941/k0919/m1717

.... for the sons of this world are for their own generation wiser than the sons of the light. And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends by means of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when it shall fail, they may receive you into the eternal tabernacles. He that is faithful in a very little is faithful also in much: and he that is unrighteous in a very little is unrighteous also in much. If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another's, who will give you that which is your own? No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.                                         l1608-13/m0624

Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and a house divided against a house falleth. And if Satan also is divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand? because ye say that I cast out devils by Beelzebub. And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your sons cast them out? therefore shall they be your judges. But if I by the finger of God cast out devils, then is the kingdom of God come upon you. When the strong man fully armed guardeth his own court, his goods are in peace: but when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him his whole armour wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils. He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth. The unclean spirit when he is gone out of the man, passeth through waterless places, seeking rest; and finding none, he saith, I will turn back unto my house whence I came out. And when he is come, he findeth it swept and garnished. Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits more evil than himself; and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man becometh worse than the first.                       l1117-26/k0323-27/m1225-45

.... but your inward part is full of extortion and wickedness. Ye foolish ones, did not he that made the outside make the inside also?

                                                                                                                                                                                      l1139-40/m2325-6

Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world.                                                                            j0823

Get thee behind me, Satan: for thou mindest not the things of God, but the things of men.                                                 k0833/m1623

Mortality & Weakness
Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.                                    k1438/m2641

Leave the dead to bury their own dead; ....                                                                                                                           l0960/m0822

Take heed, and keep yourselves from all covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth. ..... The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: and he reasoned within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have not where to bestow my fruits? And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my corn and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, be merry. But God said unto him, Thou foolish one, this night is thy soul required of thee; and the things which thou hast prepared, whose shall they be? So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.                                                      l1215-21
