General
.... the kingdom of God is within
you.
l1721
It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words
that I have spoken unto you are spirit, and are life.

[To Pilate:] Thou wouldest have no power against me, except it were given
thee from above: ....
j1911
Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of
the mouth of God.

The lamp of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole
body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall
be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how
great is the darkness!
m0622-3/l1134-6
Therefore speak I to them in parables; because seeing they see not, and
hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. And unto them is
fulfilled the prophesy of Isaiah, which saith,
By hearing ye shall hear, and shall in no wise understand;
And seeing ye shall see, and shall in no wise perceive:
For this people's heart is waxed gross,
And their ears are dull of hearing,
And their eyes they have closed;
Lest haply they should perceive with their eyes,
And hear with their ears,
And understand with their heart,
And should turn again,
And I should heal them.
But blessed are your eyes, for they see; and your ears, for they hear. For
verily I say unto you, that many prophets and righteous men desired to see
the things which ye see, and saw them not; and to hear the things which ye
hear, and heard them not.

[His disciples: Rabbi, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he should
be born blind?]
Neither did this man sin, nor his parents: but that the works of God should
be made manifest in him. j0902-3
[To the multitude:] Hear, and understand: Not that which entereth into the
mouth defileth the man; but that which proceedeth out of the mouth, this
defileth the man.
[The disciples: Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, when they
heard this saying?]
Every plant which my heavenly Father planted not, shall be rooted up. Let
them alone: they are blind guides. And if the blind guide the blind, both
shall fall into a pit.
[Peter: Declare unto us the parable.]
Are ye also even yet without understanding? Perceive ye not, that whatsoever
goeth into the mouth passeth into the belly, and is cast out into the
draught? But the things which proceed out of the mouth come forth out of the
heart; and they defile the man. For out of the heart come forth evil
thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness,
railings: these are the things which defile the man: but to eat with
unwashen hands defileth not the man.

And if thy hand cause thee to stumble, cut it off: it is good for thee to
enter into life maimed, rather than having thy two hands to go into hell,
into the unquenchable fire. And if thy foot cause thee to stumble, cut it
off: it is good for thee to enter into life halt, rather than having thy two
feet to be cast into hell. And if thine eye cause thee to stumble, cast it
out: it is good for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye,
rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell; ....

For God said, Honour thy father and thy mother: and, He that speaketh evil
of father or mother, let him die the death. But ye say, Whosoever shall say
to his father or his mother, That wherewith thou mightest have been profited
by me is given to God; he shall not honour his father.
m1504-6/k0709-13
Have ye not read, that he which made them from the beginning made them male
and female, and said, For this cause shall a man leave his father and
mother, and shall cleave to his wife; and the twain shall become one flesh?
So that they are no more twain, but one flesh.
m1904-6/k1006-8
[To the Syrophoenician Woman:] I was not sent but unto the lost sheep of the
house of Israel.
