                                                                         14 Dialogues with Individuals (cont'd)

[James and John: Master, we would that thou shouldest do for us whatsoever we shall ask of thee.]
What would ye that I should do for you?
[Grant unto us that we may sit, one on thy right hand, and one on thy left hand, in thy glory.]
Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink the cup that I drink? or to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?
[We are able.]
The cup that I drink ye shall drink; and with the baptism that I am baptized withal shall ye be baptized: but to sit on my right hand or on my left hand is not mine to give: but it is for them for whom it hath been prepared.                                                      k1035-40/m2021-3

[To his Mother:] Woman, behold, thy son!                                                                                                                                         j1926
[To John:]                        Behold, thy mother!                                                                                                                                    j1927

[Some disciples: We have seen the Lord.]
[Thomas: Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.]
[And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them. Jesus cometh, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst:]
Peace be unto you.
[To Thomas:] Reach hither thy finger, and see my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and put it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. [Thomas: My Lord and my God.]
Because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.                            j2025-9

[Judas Iscariot: Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor?
Suffer her to keep it against the day of my burying. For the poor ye have always with you; but me ye have not always.

                                                                                                                                                                       j1205-8/m2609-12/k1405-8

Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.
[And they were exceeding sorrowful, and began to say unto him every one, Is it I, Lord?]
He that dipped his hand with me in the dish, the same shall betray me. The Son of man goeth, even as it is written of him: but woe unto that man through whom the Son of man is betrayed! good were it for that man if he had not been born.
[Judas: Is it I, Rabbi?]
Thou hast said.                                                                                                                                                                             m2621-5

Judas, betrayest thou the Son of man with a kiss?                                                                                                                            l2248

[John the Baptist: I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?
Suffer it now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness.                                                                                                     m0314-5

[Disciples of John the Baptist: Art thou he that cometh, or look we for another?]
Go your way and tell John the things which ye do hear and see: the blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, and the dead are raised up, and the poor have good tidings preached to them. And blessed is he, whosoever shall find none occasion of stumbling in me.                                                                                                                          m1103-6/l0719-23

[Mary: Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I sought thee sorrowing.]
How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be in my Father's house?                                                                                l0248-9

[To his Mother at the marriage at Cana:]
Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.                                                                                                     j0204

[To his Mother:] Woman, behold, thy son!                                                                                                                                         j1926

[To John:]                        Behold, thy mother!                                                                                                                                    j1927
