[James and John: Master,
we would that thou shouldest do for us whatsoever we shall ask of thee.]
What would ye that I should do for you?
[Grant unto us that we may sit, one on thy right hand, and one on thy left
hand, in thy glory.]
Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink the cup that I drink? or to be
baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?
[We are able.]
The cup that I drink ye shall drink; and with the baptism that I am baptized
withal shall ye be baptized: but to sit on my right hand or on my left hand
is not mine to give: but it is for them for whom it hath been prepared.

[Some disciples: We have seen the Lord.]
[Thomas: Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and
put my finger into the print of the nails, and put my hand into his side, I
will not believe.]
[And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them.
Jesus cometh, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst:]
Peace be unto you.
[To Thomas:] Reach hither thy finger, and see my hands; and reach hither thy
hand, and put it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. [Thomas:
My Lord and my God.]
Because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have
not seen, and yet have believed.

Go your way and tell John the things which ye do hear and see: the blind
receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the
deaf hear, and the dead are raised up, and the poor have good tidings
preached to them. And blessed is he, whosoever shall find none occasion of
stumbling in me.
