15 JUDGMENT & SALVATION (cont'd)
11 Hell
But I will warn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.
l1205/m1028
And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and that he was carried away by the
angels into Abraham's bosom: and the rich man also died, and was buried. And
in Hades he lifted up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off,
and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on
me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool
my tongue; for I am in anguish in this flame. But Abraham said, Son, remember
that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and Lazarus in like
manner evil things: but now here he is comforted, and thou art in anguish. And
beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, that they
which would pass from hence to you may not be able, and that none may cross
over from thence to us. And he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou
wouldest send him to my father's house; for I have five brethren; that he may
testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. But Abraham
saith, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. And he said, Nay,
father Abraham: but if one go to them from the dead, they will repent. And he
said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be
persuaded, if one rise from the dead.
l1622-31
So shall it be in the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever
the wicked from among the righteous, and shall cast them into the furnace of
fire: there shall be the weeping and gnashing of teeth.
m1349-50
Ye serpents, ye offspring of vipers, how shall ye escape the judgement of
hell?
m2333
And whosoever shall cause one of these little ones that believe on me to
stumble, it were better for him if a great millstone were hanged about his
neck, and he were cast into the sea. And if thy hand cause thee to stumble,
cut it off: it is good for thee to enter into life maimed, rather than having
thy two hands to go into hell, into the unquenchable fire. And if thy foot
cause thee to stumble, cut it off: it is good for thee to enter into life
halt, rather than having thy two feet to be cast into hell. And if thine eye
cause thee to stumble, cast it out: it is good for thee to enter into the
kingdom of God with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell;
where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. k0942-8/l1701-2/m1806-9
And if thy right eye causeth thee to stumble, pluck it out, and cast it from
thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and
not thy whole body be cast into hell. And if thy right hand causeth thee to
stumble, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that
one of thy members should perish, and not thy whole body go into hell.
m0529-30
.... so shall it be in the end of the world. The Son of man shall send forth
his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that cause
stumbling, and them that do iniquity, and shall cast them into the furnace of
fire: there shall be the weeping and gnashing of teeth. Then shall the
righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He that hath
ears, let him hear.
m1340-3
And I say unto you, that many shall come from the east and the west, and shall
sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven: but the
sons of the kingdom shall be cast forth into the outer darkness: there shall
be the weeping and gnashing of teeth.
m0811-2
But when the king came in to behold the guests, he saw there a man which had
not on a wedding-garment: and he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in
hither not having a wedding-garment? And he was speechless. Then the king said
to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and cast him out into the outer
darkness; there shall be the weeping and gnashing of teeth. For many are
called, but few chosen. m2211-4
And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and made not ready, nor did
according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes; but he that knew
not, and did things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes.
l1247-8
Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art with him in the way; lest
haply the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to
the officer, and thou be cast into prison. Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt
by no means come out thence, till thou have paid the last farthing.
m0525-6/l1258-9
Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did
it not unto one of these least, ye did it not unto me. And these shall go away
into eternal punishment: but the righteous into eternal life. m2545-6
