6 Paradox in Judgment
Treasures on earth have no value
But God said unto him, Thou foolish one, this night is thy soul required of
thee; and the things which thou hast prepared, whose shall they be? So is he
that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God. l1220-1
Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon the earth, where moth and rust doth
consume, and where thieves break through and steal: but lay up for yourselves
treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth consume, and where
thieves do not break through nor steal: for where thy treasure is, there will
thy heart be also.
m0619-21/l1322-4
Life is not food and clothing
Therefore I say unto you, Be not anxious for your life, what ye shall eat, or
what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the
life more than the food, and the body than the raiment? Behold the birds of
the heaven, that they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns;
and your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are not ye much more value than they?
m0625-6/l1222-4
But love your enemies, and do them good, and lend, never despairing; and your
reward shall be great, and ye shall be sons of the Most High: for he is kind
toward the unthankful and evil.
l0635
.... for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sendeth rain
on the just and the unjust. m0545
To lose one's life for Christ is to save it
Whosoever shall seek to gain his life shall lose it: but whosoever shall lose
his life shall preserve it.
l1733/m1039
If any man would come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross
daily, and follow me. For whosoever would save his life shall lose it; but
whosoever shall lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it. For what is
a man profited, if he gain the whole world, and lose or forfeit his own self?
l0923-5/k0834-6/m1624-6
Except a grain of wheat fall into the earth and die, it abideth by itself
alone; but if it die, it beareth much fruit. He that loveth his life loseth
it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.
If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my
servant be: if any man serve me, him will the Father honour.
