13 VOCATION (cont'd)
5 Mission (cont'd)
Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out
devils: freely ye received, freely give. m1008/l0902
And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat such things as
are set before you: and heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The
kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.
l1008-9
[The disciples, concerning epilepsy in a boy: Why could not we cast it out?]
Because of your little faith: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a
grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder
place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
m1719-20/k0928-9
This kind can come out by nothing, save by prayer.
k0929
And these signs shall follow them that believe: in my name shall they cast out
devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents, and if
they drink any deadly thing, it shall in no wise hurt them; they shall lay
hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
k1617-8
Preach
And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.
m1007/l0902
Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to the whole creation.
k1615/m2819
And the gospel must first be preached unto all the nations. And when they lead
you to judgement, and deliver you up, be not anxious beforehand what ye shall
speak: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it
is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost.
k1310-1/m2414
Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer, and rise again from the
dead the third day; and that repentance and remission of sins should be
preached in his name unto all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem. l2446-7
Pastoral Care
Give ye them to eat.
[The disciples: Shall we go and buy two hundred pennyworth of bread, and give
them to eat?]
How many loaves have ye? go and see.
[Five, and two fishes.]
[And he commanded them that all should sit down by companies upon the green
grass. And they sat down in ranks, by hundreds, and by fifties. And he took
the five loaves and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and
brake the loaves; and he gave to the disciples to set before them; and the two
fishes divided he among them all. And they did all eat, and were filled.
k0637-42/m1416-20/l0913-7/j0607-11
[The disciples: Whence shall one be able to fill these men with bread here in
a desert place?]
How many loaves have ye?
[Seven.]
[And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground: and he took the
seven loaves, and having given thanks, he brake, and gave to his disciples, to
set before them; and they set them before the multitude. And they had a few
small fishes: and having blessed them, he commanded to set these also before
them. And they did eat, and were filled: ....
k0804-8/m1533-7
Simon, son of John, lovest thou me more than these?
[Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee.]
Feed my lambs.
Simon, son of John, lovest thou me?
[Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee.]
Tend my sheep.
Simon, son of John, lovest thou me?
[Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee.]
Feed my sheep.
