12 HEALING & CURES (cont'd)
Cures (cont'd)
What question ye with them?
[One of the multitude: Master, I brought unto thee my son, which hath a dumb
spirit; and wheresoever it taketh him, it dasheth him down: and he foameth,
and grindeth his teeth, and pineth away: and I spake to thy disciples that
they should cast it out; and they were not able.]
O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I bear
with you? bring him unto me.
[And they brought him unto him: and when he saw him, straightway the spirit
tare him grievously; and he fell on the ground, and wallowed foaming.]
How long time is it since this hath come unto him?
[His father: From a child. And oft-times it hath cast him both into the fire
and into the waters, to destroy him: but if thou canst do anything, have
compassion on us, and help us.]
If thou canst! All things are possible to him that believeth.
[I believe; help thou mine unbelief.]
[And when Jesus saw that a multitude came running together, he rebuked the
unclean spirit:] Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I command thee, come out of him,
and enter no more into him.
[And having cried out, and torn him much, he came out: and the child became
as one dead; insomuch that the more part said, He is dead.]
[But Jesus took him by the hand, and raised him up; and he arose.]
[And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately,
saying, We could not cast it out.]
This kind can come out by nothing, save by prayer.

[Martha & Mary: Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick.]
This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of
God may be glorified thereby.
[Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus. When therefore he
heard that he was sick, he abode at that time two days in the place where he
was. Then after this he saith to his disciples:]
Let us go into Judaea again.
[The disciples: Rabbi, the Jews were but now seeking to stone thee; and
goest thou thither again?]
Are there not twelve hours in the day? If a man walk in the day, he
stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world. But if a man walk
in the night, he stumbleth, because the light is not in him.
Our friend Lazarus is fallen asleep; but I go, that I may awake him out of
sleep.
[The disciples: Lord, if he is fallen asleep, he will recover.]
Lazarus is dead. And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the
intent ye may believe; nevertheless let us go unto him.
[Thomas: Let us also go, that we may die with him.]
[Martha: Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died. And even
now I know that, whatsoever thou shalt ask of God, God will give thee.]
Thy brother shall rise again.
[Martha: I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last
day.]
I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth on me, though he die,
yet shall he live: and whosoever liveth and believeth on me shall never die.
Believest thou this?
[Yea, Lord: I have believed that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, even
he that cometh into the world.]
[Martha to Mary: The Master is here, and calleth thee.]
[Mary: Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.]
Where have ye laid him?
[Lord, come and see.]
[Jesus wept.]
[The Jews: Behold how he loved him!]
[But some of them said, Could not this man, which opened the eyes of him
that was blind, have caused that this man also should not die?]
Take ye away the stone.
[Martha: Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he has been dead four days.]
Said I not unto thee, that, if thou believedst, thou shouldest see the glory
of God?
Father, I thank thee that thou heardest me. And I knew that thou hearest me
always: but because of the multitude which standeth around I said it, that
they may believe that thou didst send me.
Lazarus, come forth.
Loose him, and let him go.
